Interview with Nishant Tikun, Ice Stupa Project Coordinator, Himalyan Institute of Alternatives

Filmed on location in Phyang, Leg, Ladkah, October 2021

Kulum is the first Himalayan village to have experienced forced climate migration due to glacial recession and water scarcity and has been one of the sites where the Ice Stupa project to grow artificial glaciers has been active. There are presently 45 water-stressed mountain villages whose means of survival and agricultural livelihood has been severely impacted by the seasonal changes in the melt-rate of glaciers.
